The 5 most common mistakes after applying self-tanner

Self-tanner is a tanning product that guarantees a perfect tan only when used correctly. We wrote about how to apply self-tanners HERE! Today, we'll tell you what to avoid after applying self-tanner. Here are the 5 most common mistakes!

Hair removal after applying self-tanner

After both spray tanning and self-tanner application, it's best to limit shaving. This is to avoid irritating freshly tanned skin. We also don't recommend epilating before applying the self-tanner . A significant amount of the product will then accumulate in the areas where the hairs were removed. It's best to epilate your body the day before applying the self-tanner .

Note: If you are undergoing laser hair removal treatments, refrain from using self-tanning products during this time.

Gym workout after applying self-tanner

Another thing to consider is a seemingly harmless workout at the gym. Avoid physical activity for about 6-8 hours after application, until the product has fully absorbed, worked its magic on your skin, and you've rinsed off any excess in the shower. You don't want unsightly streaks where your sweat drips, right?

Swimming in the pool after applying self-tanner

Whether you're planning a pool party or meeting friends at the lake, wait. The time it takes to swim after applying the product is usually 4 to 6 hours. Also, remember that chlorinated water may reduce the desired results.

Relaxing in the sauna after applying self-tanner

Trust us, you don't want your long-awaited tan to simply melt away under the influence of high temperatures. So stay away from saunas and places that can cause freshly applied tan to "run" across your body. Imagine what could happen to your self-tanner after just a few minutes in the sauna. Skin covered in brown streaks is definitely something you don't want to remember!

Applying other cosmetics after applying self-tanner

Don't mix self-tanner with other cosmetics. Don't apply it directly over body lotion or vice versa. It's best to wait until after your first bath to moisturize your skin. Otherwise, unsightly spots will appear. Once your tan is fully developed, use lotion daily to ensure your tan lasts much longer.

Summary

Remember that any external factors that accelerate the natural abrasion of the epidermis can cause your tan to fade more quickly. Therefore, be especially careful after applying self-tanner – this is a crucial time during which the entire tanning process occurs.
